Good With Words Bad With People

Some people enjoy hanging out with people, and others rather prefer to spend their evening in the company of words. That doesn’t mean there is something wrong with people per se, although more often than not, there is. With people, you just never know. They tend to talk, and it’s not always that interesting what they have to say. And because they are people and people have feelings, you can’t just close their mouths the way you can close a book. We tried a couple of times. Not a good idea.

What makes people also tricky terrain is that they are sometimes hard to understand, and you can only say sorry, can you repeat that again any so often, which is basically the equivalent of reading a sentence again if you don’t immediately get it the first time.

To cut a long story short, here at the press, we prefer to spend most of our time in the company of words. Words, though, come from people. We sometimes tend to forget.
